Welcome to Poole Literary Festival

The Past, Present & Future of the Written Word

Join us for a stimulating and inspiring 3-day programme of events, as Poole plays host to a wealth of literary talent - writers, poets, performers and artists along with a few surprises. Plus, we are launching Britain’s very first New Media Writing Prize, in partnership with Bournemouth University.

It’s taken a year of planning, a lot of begging, a wealth of goodwill and an abiding passion, which we hope will provide you with an imaginative menu of events to stimulate those cerebral taste buds! So, if you’re ‘hooked on books’, be sure to come along and support Poole’s new and exciting festival.

Our line-up so far is set to impress, with over 50 events and 30 acclaimed writers there is something for all ages to enjoy.  Watch out for the Lighthouse Brochure in August listing a taster of PLF events.   Keep checking our site, or sign up to our e-newsletter, and we will keep you up-to-date with all PLF news and give you the opportunity to take advantage of our Early Bird Offers!

The New Media Writing Prize is now open!! This is a fantastic opportunity to embrace the potential of digital media to engage a generation of storytellers. If you would like more information about sponsoring our prestigious Awards Ceremony then get in touch now! It's your chance to be associated with a major new prize that will showcase outstanding new writing and looks to the future of the written word.
